Bloomington, IL. – Being a community first organization, the Bloomington Edge could not pass up the chance on resigning a standout local like linebacker Brad Blumenshine. Brad, who played at Normal Community High School, has some deep roots here in the Bloomington-Normal area.
“It’s been home for almost 25 years and 34 family members were born here in the area," Blumenshine reflected. "My pops actually grew up in Peoria and played at Illinois State in the 80’s and never left after he graduated.”
For Brad, home is where the heart is and that is something appreciated by the Edge. Playing his football collegiately at Western Illinois, he knew he had to come back home.
“I have been playing football since I was seven and for 13 years I have been playing in the community,” said Blumenshine.
For some athletes, playing in your hometown can be a struggle due to the pressures of wanting to impress friends and family, but not for Brad who relishes the opportunity.
“You have your loved ones and they’re cheering you on to give you an extra boost to make big plays.”
The Bloomington Edge and Brad are excited for the 2018 season to kickoff, and want you there to be a part of something special. Season tickets, flex ticket packages, and group events are on sale now.
