Bloomington, IL. – It has been several months since the Bloomington Edge moved up a tier, and they continue to make strong roster moves to make their presence felt in the Indoor Football League. The latest addition to the team is 6’1, 195 pound cornerback Tee Shepard who is expected to contribute immediately.
Shepard was a 5 star recruit coming out of Washington Union High School in Fresno, California, and was rated the #3 CB in the country by Scout.com. He signed with the University of Notre Dame and enrolled early, but he ended up transferring to Holmes junior college. Coming out of Holmes, Shepard was the #1 rated junior college CB in the country by 247Sports.com. He finished his college career in the Southeastern Conference with Ole’ Miss.
“Tee is an outstanding corner who can do it all,” said Coach Ruud. “He can cover with the best of them and also tackle like a line backer. He will fit in perfectly with the relentless and physical defense that we are assembling here in Bloomington.”
Bloomington won’t be Shepard’s first experience playing professional indoor football. He spent some time with the Arizona Rattlers in the 2017 season, a team he will get to see again when they travel to Grossinger Motors Arena to play the Edge on May 5th.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to come play in Bloomington,” Shepard replied when asked about his decision to sign with the Edge. “Now I’m just ready to play some ball.”
Shepard still has his sight set on an NFL tryout. Coach Ruud thinks that is a realistic goal.
“There just aren’t too many 6’1 corners out there that can run like he runs and hit like he hits. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him on an NFL roster next August.”
The Bloomington Edge opens the season at home on February 25th at 5pm. Season tickets, FLEX ticket packages, and group events are all on sale now. For more information please contact the Edge at (484)-840-EDGE or visit them online at www.bloomingtonedge.net.
