Bloomington, IL. – The Bloomington Edge is pleased to share information on updates to 2018 summer season schedule. The Edge has added the New England Bobcats and Illinois Renegades as opponents. The Bobcats will travel to Bloomington on July 28th for a 7:00pm game while the Renegades will come to town on August 12th for a Sunday afternoon game at 2:00pm. Both games will take place inside Grossinger Motors Arena in downtown Bloomington.
When asked how he and his team felt about facing the two new opponents, Bloomington Edge Head Coach J. Johnson said “We are very excited to play these games. This summer season is exciting, and we look forward to the challenge.”
Bobcat’s assistant coach William Savary is looking forward to going up against such an established team as the Edge. “The New England Bobcats are very excited to play against a talented team with a gro ing tradition. The Bloomington Edge is well known throughout the country and is considered one of the better organizations in the game. This is a great opportunity for our players to compete against some of the best.”
Stand out players for the Bobcats include quarterback Najee Hillman, the team’s offensive leader, and Alex Hule who plays in the secondary. Hillman was 23-1 during his time as quarterback for the Mass State Wolverines Minor League football team, and Savary says he has had a great start in his arena football career. Hulme attended Salve Regina University and his team won the East Coast Athletic Conference Championship during his senior year.
The Illinois Renegades are from Chicago. They won the Midwest Professional Indoor Football League Championship in their inaugural season in 2016. General Manager, Gread McKinnis III says that the team is excited to face the Edge this summer.
“We are looking forward to playing the Edge on August 12th, as it will give some of our players a chance to play in an atmosphere they haven’t seen since college. It will be a great opportunity to showcase some of our players who hope to continue their careers and move up levels”.
Stand out players for the Renegades include Robert Dyson and Kerry Lewis. Dyson is an athletic wide out who measures 6’4” and is a scoring threat from anywhere on the field. Lewis, a 6’0” running back, leads the Renegades ground attack.
